Technics SL-1210 MK7

The Technics SL-1210 MK7 DJ Turntable is a professional direct drive DJ turntable that continues the legendary SL-1210 design while adding a host of new features and technology to make this the best DJ deck that Technics have ever produced. The all black design instantly makes the deck recognisable as part of the Technics SL-1210 turntable family and comes with a new black tonearm. The pitch control can be changed from the standard +/-8% to +/-16%.

Coreless Direct Drive Motor Achieving Stable Rotation and Powerful Torque
The direct drive system uses a slow-rotating motor to directly drive the platter. This system has various advantages. It offers high performance, such as rotation accuracy and powerful torque, does not require replacement of parts and maintains high reliability over a long period of time. However, the direct drive system was said to on occasion produce a rotation irregularity called cogging. For the SL-1200MK7, a new coreless direct drive motor was developed. This motor employs a coreless stator. The removal of the iron core from the stator eliminated the root cause of cogging. Furthermore, the magnetic force of the rotor magnets was improved to the highest possible level, and the gap between the coreless stator and rotor magnets was optimised, thus achieving high torque performance equalling that of the SL-1200MK5. Boasting smooth rotation and powerful torque, this motor reproduces sound accurately and faithfully from the groove on an analogue record.

Highly Sensitive Tonearm Accurately Reads the Signal Stored in the Record Groove
The tonearm, which is responsible for accurately reading the signal by tracking the groove on the phono record, is a static-balance universal S-shape tonearm, another Technics tradition. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-rigidity aluminium. The bearing section of the gimbal suspension construction tonearm consists of a machined housing and high-precision bearing to assure excellent tracking performance with minimum stylus jumping, even in harsh playing conditions such as scratching.

Two-Layer Structure Platter with Improved Vibration Damping Performance
The platter on which a vinyl record is placed features a two-layer structure with deadening rubber on the entire back surface to eliminate unwanted resonance in the aluminium die-cast platter. The platter offers high rigidity and outstanding vibration-damping characteristics to prevent harmful vibration from being transmitted to the record and delivers clear sound.

High Rigidity Cabinet and High Damping Insulator for Thorough Shut-Out of all Vibrations
The chassis, an essential part for reducing external vibrations, inherits the audio quality enhancement technology fostered through the development of high-end turntables. The aluminium die-cast chassis is rigidly integrated with a special material consisting of ABS mixed with glass fibre to achieve a two-layer construction. The combination of this special high-rigidity material and a metal chassis raised the rigidity and vibration-damping performance to higher levels, realising a robust cabinet for beautiful sound reproduction.
The insulator is comprised of a spring and rubber to provide optimal frequency characteristics. This not only assures high sound quality and superb howling resistance, but also effectively shuts out external vibrations under high sound level conditions.

Detachable Power/Phono Cable Terminals Prevents Cable Discontinuity
The power and phono cable terminals allow detachment of the cables. The phono terminals are gold-plated to minimise sound quality degradation. Since the terminals allow disconnection of the cables, maintenance of the cables is easier, and your favourite phono cable can be connected to let you enjoy the change in sound quality resulting from a different cable.

Starting Torque/Brake Speed Adjustment Function
The SL-1200MK7 employs the newest motor control technology refined through the development of Blu-ray disc products. Utilising a microcomputer, this advanced motor control technology ensures high performance in normal rotation and also responds accurately to a wide range of DJ play styles, such as scratching.

The starting torque and brake speed can be adjusted individually to suit the users preference.

Pitch Control Function Enables Accurate and Stable Pitch Adjustment
The rotation speed can be set to 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm or 78 rpm. * The pitch control function allows fine adjustment of the rotation speed within +/-8%, +/-16%. This function achieves accurate and stable pitch control thanks to full digital control with improved tracking performance and accuracy.

* To use the 78 rpm speed, the switch on the main unit must be turned on.
REVERSE PLAY FUNCTION EXPANDS THE BREADTH OF DJ PLAY STYLES

The platter rotates in the reverse direction when the speed selector button and Start/Stop button are pressed simultaneously. This expands the breadth of DJ play styles.

* To use the reverse play function, the switch on the main unit must be turned on.
* The phono cartridge used must support scratch play.

A Traditional Design Ideal for DJ Play
Stylus Illuminator Featuring a High-Brightness and Long-Life LED

The stylus illuminator features a new push-type structure and employs a high-brightness and long-life white LED. The illumination area and intensity were reviewed to provide improved visibility of the stylus tip compared to previous models even in a dark environment.

All Black Design
The SL-1200MK7 sports black buttons and a black tonearm while retaining the SL-1200 Series’ button layout. With the matte-texture black body and black parts, the new all black design presents an attractive, refined appearance. The LED light can be set to illuminate in either red or blue, further enhancing the DJ play environment.

Pioneer DJM-S5

Passion for Scratching: Meet the DJM-S5 scratch-style 2-channel DJ mixer for Serato DJ Pro.
This new DJ mixer is ideal if you’ve experimented with battle mixing and scratching and want to expand your skills, or if you’re completely new to the scene and want to dive straight in.

KEY FEATURES

Intuitive scratch-style layout and features inherited from professional battle mixers

MAGVEL FADER PRO crossfader

Find your perfect scratch feeling with the popular MAGVEL FADER PRO crossfader, which features Feeling Adjust so you can tweak the “weight” and get the level of resistance you like best. You can be confident in the fader’s robust design too; the knob mounting axis is highly rigid in the vertical direction so it can handle energetic scratch techniques.

Effect levers

Use the 2 large effect levers to control up to 57 effects in Serato DJ Pro (including paid Expansion Packs). The levers are the same size as those on the flagship DJM-S11 and you can hold them down or release them to turn the effect on / off, or lock them on so your hands are free to browse and scratch tracks while the effect is still applied. There are also 2 banks where you can save effects, giving you quick access to your favorites.

Performance Pads

Get creative and experiment with 13 pad modes including Hot Cue and Sampler. Using the 4 Performance Pads on each deck, which measure 20.6 mm x 20.6 mm, you can trigger samples and find all kinds of new ways to “remix” your tracks live and add texture to the music.

Brand-new features for easy scratching

Scratch Cutter

Start scratching straight away – even if you’ve never tried before. Simply choose one of the 6 cutting patterns and turn on the Scratch Cutter function with the effects lever, then move the control vinyl or jog wheel (when using DVS control) forward and backward on the deck and the DJM-S5 will do the rest. The mixer applies a cutting effect to the music in perfect time with the track playing on the other deck, emulating the popular transformer scratch technique which usually involves complicated crossfader movements, even though you don’t need to move the crossfader.

This feature offers a great way to start learning to scratch; you can concentrate on getting your timing right with the control vinyl before moving on to the more challenging technique of using the crossfader to cut the sound in at the right places. For example, if you select the forward scratch cut pattern, you can practice pushing the control vinyl at the right moment and pulling it back to the correct point to start the scratch again without needing to close the fader to prevent the “rewind” sound being heard in between the forward scratches.

Crossfader Hot Cue

Turn on the Crossfader Hot Cue feature and you can quickly move the crossfader to create scratch-like sounds with a sample or track. Every time you move the fader away from the edge, the track or sample on the relevant deck plays from the most recent Hot Cue point. So, you can quickly repeat the action to rapidly play the Hot Cue in the rhythm you use to move the crossfader – creating a scratch-like sound without the need to move the control vinyl on the deck.

USB bus power and standalone mixer versatility so you can play anywhere

The DJM-S5 is the first-ever Pioneer DJ mixer that you can power via the USB connection to your computer. Enjoy the extra flexibility this offers and, if you use portable turntables, the freedom to practice and perform literally anywhere you can carry your decks to: your garden, a park, or even the beach. It works as a standalone mixer too, so you can play music from a variety of sources such as analog vinyl records. And even though the mixer is USB powered, it produces a wide-ranging bright sound that brings out the best of all music genres, from hip-hop and house, to R&B and rock.

Brand-new design

As soon as you unbox the DJM-S5, your gaze will be drawn to the all-new aesthetic design. The top plate is split into bright red gloss and black sections with contrasting detailing and black controls and buttons, which all combine to create the look of a musical instrument. As you explore further, you’ll find a transparent window on the front plate that shows off the inner workings of the MAGVEL FADER PRO, plus grab handles that make the compact and lightweight mixer easy to carry to gigs and parties.

Serato DJ Pro and DVS plug-and-play compatibility

Simply plug the DJM-S5 into a PC / Mac running the Serato DJ Pro application and you can use the software for free, including a host of professional performance features. The mixer also offers free support for Serato DVS, so you can use analog turntables with control vinyl or DJ players to play and scratch the tracks in your Serato crates. And there’s no need for external equipment such as a soundcard if you’re streaming your set and want to add speech or vocals to your performance. All sounds are sent to the stream via Serato DJ Pro.
